The DBA Public Forum Committee will host candidates for Texas Supreme Court on Tuesday, September 2 at noon at the Belo Mansion. Lawyers and citizens can hear directly from the candidates as they answer questions from moderator Keven Ann Willey, editorial page editor for the Dallas Morning News. Invited to participate are Sam Houston, Wallace Jefferson, Phil Johnson, Jim Jordan, Dale Wainwright and Linda Yanez. PRO BONO FAMILY LAW
NUTS & BOLTS CLE

The DBA Family Law Section and DVAP will present their annual Family Law Nuts & Bolts CLE on Wednesday, September 3 and Thursday, September 4 from 5 to 8 p.m. Registration begins at 4:15 p.m. This CLE trains lawyers on how to represent indigent clients in various family law matters. More than a dozen speakers (including judges and board-certified specialists) will discuss client interviews, requirements of pleadings and supporting documents, acquiring jurisdiction, prove-ups, prior orders, paternity, conservatorship and access, and child support. TO LEGAL EDUCATION' DINNER

Join the Dallas Hispanic Bar Association for the Third Annual "Lighting the Path to Legal Education" dinner on Wednesday, September 17 at 7 p.m. at the Belo. This year’s event will honor Regina Montoya and the DHBA will present its Third Annual Corporate Counsel Diversity Award to Gary Kennedy of American Airlines. FREEDOM RUN NEEDS YOUR HELP!

The DAYL first organized the Freedom Run 5K in 2001 to honor the victims and heroes of 9/11. The run benefits Dallas police through the Assist the Officer Foundation. The 8th Annual Freedom Run will take place the evening of Thursday, September 11 at Dallas City Hall Plaza. On race day, we need volunteers to help with registration and assist in with the race.
